May. 9th, 2005 12:41 amSo Pat and I were talking about how I am totally unmotivated to do anything lately, and were trying to figure out something new for me to do. I already have my plate filled with roleplaying, but since the actual RP I get to do is limited by Patrick's schedule and the weekend, that's been drastically reduced. Nor do I have 15 hours a week being spent on classes (an upper, usually) - now I have work (a major drain on my energy). So we thought about it, and when Joyee suggested I take up dance, I thought, "Well, ballet isn't really my thing, but I always love ballroom dancing - one of the few benefits of weddings and big parties, really." So... we tried to find ballroom dance classes in Brampton.
Turns out there are jazz, hip-hop, bhangra (which, from the sounds of it, is the dance they did for the Indian/South Asian portion of CultureFest), and belly dancing - at least, that's what's offered by Brampton Parks & Rec. A little further investigation shows not much better; I think maybe 3 places offer ballroom dancing classes.
However.
A lot of dance places DO offer, in addition to dance, drama and vocal training. Some of these even list "musical theatre" as what they specifically train.
So now I'm all, "yeah, I could go do training for musicals!" And then my brain kicks in with the same thing it does whenever I feel like writing - "What's the point? You'll never be good enough to do it professionally."
So, yeah. Mreh.
( And now for a Friday Five on Monday morning )
