This will come as a surprise to exactly no one that knows me, but Alistair from Dragon Age: Origins.

He's sweet, kind, hilariously funny, and if you tease him he gets super blushy and addlepated! But beyond that he's also exceptionally noble and self-sacrificing.

And he's also totally my type.

Also, if you're playing a girl, you get to deflower him in what is probably the most adorable seduction ever. EVER.

Close seconds are Auron (who doesn't want a zombie badass who can wield a giant sword one-handed), Celes (great voice, very caring, can destroy you with her magic AND nullify yours), and the rest of the DA:O cast (notable mentions going to Morrigan, Leliana, and Zevran. And Shale. And...).

I'm a Wood Rat.

According to the first random Chinese Zodiac explanation site that pops up on Google when I type that in, this means that:

"Being born under this sign determines many talents, as well as other characteristics that may not be so commendable. Rats are very lively and need a lot of mental and physical stimulation. They can be calm and perceptive, but sometimes their brains can cause a mental restlessness, tempting them to take on too much, only to discover they are unable to meet their commitments. Rats are blessed with one of the best intellects going. Add to their intelligence a curiosity and a bright imagination, and they seem as sharp as a needle.

The sign of the Rat is the first sign in the cycle giving Rat people exude great leadership qualities and are good at taking the lead. They don't mind a lot of responsibility and they demonstrate a strong presence that other people respect. For those with the Rat nature, status and monetary satisfaction are the greatest motivation.

[...]

CHARACTERISTICS
Smart, Magnetic, Well-liked, Affable, Quick-witted, Surreptitious, Selfish, Protective, Calculating

THE WOOD RAT 1924 AND 1984

Despite having a remarkable facade of self-confidence, deep down, Wood Rats are the least sure of themselves compared to other Rats. However, they wouldn't dream of showing this side of themselves to anyone. Only close companions of a Wood Rat would ever suspect that he or she had such self-doubt. In fact Wood Rats are often worried about downfall, despite their ability to find success. Well-liked, proficient, and good leaders at work, Wood Rats seem to function best when they are surrounded by family and friends. Cordial and delicate, they are usually well loved by family, friends and peers."

i carry your heart with me(i carry it in
my heart)i am never without it(anywhere
i go you go,my dear; and whatever is done
by only me is your doing,my darling)
i fear
no fate(for you are my fate,my sweet)i want
no world(for beautiful you are my world,my true)
and it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
and whatever a sun will always sing is you

here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud
and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows
higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart

i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)

I thought we'd already agreed that Tommy Douglas was the Greatest Canadian.

Although he wasn't Prime Minister, so I guess we'll have to choose the #3 winner, Pierre Trudeau.

Ohhh... you said U.S. President.

Who were they, again? ;)

It's hard to say, but I think it was the original Legend of Zelda game. (It might also have been Major League Baseball II.) I loved that game, but I sucked at it, so one of my favorite memories is my aunt coming to visit from the States and beating it for me! *lol*

Ten years as of May.

Yes, you read that correctly: ten years.

This LiveJournal has witnessed a lot of things. Some of high school. (Oh god oh god please let me claw my face off. I was never 16. I deny it.) It witnessed epically terrible poetry because I was fucking sixteen oh god. Unepic obsession and drama. Dating SimoB! That was good times. Murdering Jason in the face with twee, which Jen reminds me of frequently. Anime faces! ^_^ Wai! Epic crushes on every girl I knew because I'm good like that. (P.S. Thank you all for not murdering me.) Also talking to my characters in my head. I miss that. When did that stop? Oh god, and the cosplaying. I miss being rich enough and involved enough in anime fandom to do that. God I was moody when I... oh. Yes, well. Never mind, then.

(Man, Jen, you should have gotten to me ten years ago. I was totally confident in my incredibly shit-tastic writing then. But, er, I guess you couldn't have taken my work then. *G*)

Apropos of that, the following quote from when I was looking into universities and what courses were grabbing my attention:

Soc, Soc, English, Psych, Psych, Psych, gay-related, gay-related, gay-related, Psych, Psych, Soc, Psych, gay-related, Fencing, Revolution, English...

Oh well. ^_________^ I'll become a writer of gay-centric psychological thrillers. Or Harlequins ;)

That was not at all appropriate. At least half of the sex scenes I've written have been straight. (Wait. *thinks* More than. If we leave out the threesomes/moresomes/orgies, it's actually like 4:1. I'll have to rectify this.)

"Of course, this means I'll have to *buy* pyjamas..."
"Alex, you have to stop saying things like this... :)"
"Would you prefer I didn't buy pyjamas? *radiates innocence*"

And then my love of fanfic transfers over to Simon: I got SimonB started on Harry/Draco (as Ali screams "I'VE CREATED A MONSTER! ...but it's cute, kinda like an Elmo or Grover...") Hee hee hee hee.

And the seme/uke game. I should start playing that again with my characters. Except most of them are always uke. ...hmmm, I wonder why.

All of university. BURRIS! Burris is definitely the best part of my LJ.

Then there was more school. That was friggin' dumb of me. Why did I ever think I could hack it as a writer? ;P

And then... the hellish work. Oh god. We Shall Not Speak Its Name.

And now massage therapy (which is much better). <3

Yeah.

Lunch. Probably somewhere expensive.

But my first major (over $100) purchase? Repaying my RRSP for my school withdrawals, and topping it up.

I know. I'm so boring.

The ones that come to mind immediately are all Canucks: k.d. lang covering Hallelujah, BNL covering Lovers in a Dangerous Time, and Sarah McLachlan (much as I hate to say it) covering The Rainbow Connection (shut up, OK?).

ETA another meme: The Rules: Don't take too long to think about it. Fifteen authors (poets included) who've influenced you and that will always stick with you. List the first fifteen you can recall in no more than fifteen minutes. Tag at least fifteen friends, including me, because I'm interested in seeing what authors my friends choose. Do it yourself if the inspiration strikes you.

Cut because I care )

I do, in fact, and it's a serious hamper most of the time. Rather than, say, writing for a specific person, or myself, I kind of get caught up in what the audience will think.

Well, given that I always prefer to be doted upon, I'd have to say that :P That said, unless I am extremely sick, I am at work. School it depended, but I was more likely to stay home in university (of course, I lived in Waterloo, land of the death by cold, so when I got sick I was sick... and Pat and Pat's parents doted on me, heh) and more likely to still go to school when I was in high school.

Right now I am both sick and at work.

But wishing I were being doted upon!

When clearly I am the goddess.

Hence, AlexMegami.

From LJ: What are your favorite and least favorite words? Any reasons why?

All my favorite words sound like Exalted names (or name fragments). Resplendent. Officious. Effervescent. Innocuous.

Of course, I have other favorite words in other contexts, but they're rather more... un-PG-13. ;)

Least favorite words? The ones I can't pronounce or spell. Like mischievous or novitiates.
