Touga remembers the smell of roses, the light coming through the stained-glass windows, the feel of child-Utena's hair under his hand. Saionji remembers the gargoyle, half-hidden in the shadows of the rafters, watching them like pieces on a chessboard.

There was a bonfire going, and bawdy pirate songs that Elizabeth was leading, but Will didn't really care, because there was also a rather lot of alcohol going around. "I see you've met my friend," Jack slurred drunkenly, pointing at the bottle in Will's hands, and Will laughed as Jack dove for the rum, missed, and instead passed out face-down in his lap.
For Katie:
"You're gorram crazy, you know that?" He said, her hair trickling water down his arm.
"They went like this," she replied, sucking in her cheeks and moving her lips. "They don't have much in their heads. It's good to be a fish." Then she smacked him with her fin and laughed.
For Chris:
Dogs, dogs ain't like people. Dogs'll come to you as you're sittin' in your chair, and they'll want you to pet 'em or maybe toss 'em a ball; they won't shout at you for spending a lazy Sunday on the couch, watchin' the game. Dogs're loyal, do anything for a man. Dogs ain't like women. But then, Goldie ain't like many women, so who cares about the rest?
