Alex...I wrote a long comment, posted it here, and then reconsidered after a minute and decided that I should let you see it before making it public. I'm going to make it an LJ entry that only you can see, OK? Let me know what you think I should do with it.

"My right to swing my fist ends where your nose begins."

I've attempted to come up with something else to say, but there's so many things wrong with it that I can't. >.

"— backed by major ministries such as Focus on the Family and Campus Crusade for Christ — already take on such cases for free."

I especially love this little gem - "Christians," he said, "are going to have to take a stand for the right to be Christian."

If Christ actually saw something like this, I think it'd give him a migrane. His message had nothing to do with hate and exclusion and everything to do with compassion and tolerance. Why can't these people understand that?

...sorry, I know I'm preaching to the choir, here. I'll shut up now. :s

Or, at least, as a friend of mine pointed out, you make a choice - Old Testament, where you, far as we can tell, can't be a gay man, can't wear cotton/poly blends, eat shellfish, or touch a woman while she's on her period, or New, where God is loving and doesn't have any specific rules on the subject.

I wish, just once, that a Christian who hates gays would admit that it's not because of rules they picked and chose from the Old Testament but because gay people challenge their perception of reality and make them feel icky. Because I'm pretty bloody sure that's the base of why, or otherwise Red Lobster would be a place of heathen debauchery and shopping would be a lot harder. Far as I can tell, they've listened to ONE thing and tossed the rest out the window because it's inconvenient. [And I'm sure that if God's more like he was in the OT than NT he will be PISSED . . . ]

Of course, this presumes a level of self-understanding that people who spew this sort of garbage generally don't have . . .

Very true. One of my favorite stories of my mother's is when she was attending a meeting at her church when they were discussing whether they should sanction/perform same-sex marriages. One of the female priests got up and started spouting off about how even in the New Testament, the Apostle Paul wrote against homosexuality. The bishop of her diocese, who was very charismatic and known for not mincing words, stood up in the middle of her rant and waited very quietly until she ran out of vitriol, at which point he simply looked at her and said, "Sit down."

Guess what else the apostle Paul wrote against? Women in the priesthood.

I like that. She's sueing for her right to be the most unchristian like christian ever. I truely believe that if she so wants her rights to be allowed to discriminate and hate publicly like that, she should be inforced to follow every law in the bible, since socity picks and chooses what laws they actually follow. >:(
I hate people like this.
