The final stretch!
Mar. 26th, 2006 07:36 pmI have about 400 words to go on my "Brokeback Mountain" essay, and I am entering the final stretch and flagging so hardcore.
I think I will instead do a little bit of reading. Still need to re-read The Tempest, after all. Plus, maybe I will look up my five necessary articles for the Shakespeare essay.

So I guess I'm just wondering...does it end? For some reason, I thought professional writing would become more than just analytical or research essays. I still love the program, I'm just wondering what to expect next year when I get into the actual required courses.
p.s. not lit...i know lit is going to be essays...that's all english lit courses are. you read, you write essays...but the writing courses move beyond that right? ...right?

Date: 2006-03-27 07:42 am (UTC)I can really only tell you about the courses I took - I'd say they were about 75/25 involving major essays. I know I wrote essays in 292 and 309A (I think? With Michael MacDonald, anyway), but not in any of the other specific discipline core courses, and there were no major essays in 335, 336 [but lots of writing, as they were Creative Writing courses] or in 376R or 377R.
Most of the other stuff you'll be taking will be literature or literature-related. I had a few short papers but no essays in 251A and 251B, and only essay-exams in 200A and B. Same with 190, but my 108M had a major essay. 490, 362, and 363 all had essays.
