Reposting from Sean's blog:

Kid suspended for saying a Trekkie version of the Pledge of Allegiance

More amused or more horrified? Hard to tell.

From what I can tell, she refers to her kids by their age, rather than their names. I read the full post, and followed a link to another Trek related entry, and the number describing this child was different.

So, you're quite right... Pseudonym it is.

The real kicker is that woman actually could sue the school district if she wanted to. Children are not required to say the pledge, or even stand during it. I personally don't suggest her being sue happy though. Plus she should look up state laws. In one of the passages in Alaska State Law, the way it's worded actually makes it illegal to suspend a child from school. My mom used to point it out to teachers and principles all the time... but that law is also why my school district had "in School Suspentions" Still punished the child, but found a loop hole to not fall under that law, but yet, they still will suspend a student whoes parents don't know that law exists.

^_^ though I have to say, that was a cute pledge that he did give.
