I have a problem with games with unbeatable antagonists. It really pisses me off.
Just thought I'd let everyone know.
(This does not reference any game I'm in, but rather a discussion about the fate of the Exalted world.)

But that's not unbeatable. That's just Really Fucking Difficult.
I don't even like the idea in Vampire, though I am less opposed to it. Only slightly, though.

Date: 2005-05-30 06:05 am (UTC)It's part of the reason I hate the idea that Creation dies because the Solars screw up somehow, or the Yozis take over or whatever. Maybe in a WoD game that works, but to me it's equivalent of saying "Well, looks like Frodo got stabbed by the Daiklaive of Ultimate Doom, WORLD OVER." I can accept bittersweet endings (say, the Solars unite all the Exalted to give one last push against the forces of death, evil and chaos) and banish them from the world at the cost of their own power. But for them to just gutter out because a Primordial woke up for an evening snack? What kind of fantasy ending is that?
I don't even mind that the Deathlords are statted out... it means that feasibly you could go up against them one day.
