Dude says "that the students who were the least distressed after one and a half years were the same students who were able to both express and suppress their emotions on command." Kind of implies that control over the expression of your emotions is good, regardless as to how you use that control.

Could be. Unfortunately, I cannot slough through the psychological jargon used in the actual study very well, but from what I can tell, this is mostly a preliminary study and there are follow-ups in the making.
