I'm bored at work - I haven't gotten any calls in at least an hour, co_workers_suck, customers_suck, childfree and Miss Manners have all been read (not fully, but to my fill), none of you are posting...
So a girl turns to character creation.
Now, I usually base my characters off of people I know personally. Lidia's me if I'd never gotten a social life. Aine was me if I'd been ambitious (or, alternatively, a Hermione/Draco crossbreed). Vicki is loosely based on my sister (skill-wise, and sometimes personality-wise).
I tried to use my dad as a template and ran into a brick wall.
Why, you ask? Well, because my father has very few (perceived) flaws.
He's certainly strong and robust. Perhaps lacking in the dexterity department, but not by much. Average, at least. A good athlete, too, despite being in his 50's (he can outplay most of the 30-year-olds on his soccer and baseball teams).
He's certainly brilliant, as would be expected of someone that graduated university with a double major in Specialized Honours in Philosophy and Psychology, and then got his electrical and mechanical degree, and owns his own (profitable) company that has been in place for almost 17 years.
And while I can't say he's attractive (mostly because of accusations of Electra complexes that I can hear through the computer screen), he's certainly not ugly. I don't know how good a liar he is, but he has to have above-average charisma to keep a company running as its president for this long.
...My dad is pretty awesome, I think is my point.
