Not, mind you, my update for 50books (I do have one, I'm just slow).

Hardback, trade paperback or mass market paperback?

I generally prefer paperback of any sort, but if I can get a deal on a hardback or MUST MUST MUST have it IMMEDIATELY, I'll get it.

Barnes & Noble or Borders?

Chapters/Indigo, baby.

Bookmark or dog-ear?

If I have something available to use as a bookmark, I will, but usually dog-ear.

Amazon or brick and mortar?

Usually brick and mortar, though for rare books I'll go to the internetz.

Alphabetize by author or alphabetize by title or random?

Oh, so random. I have specific shelves for my three tops (Tanya Huff, Neil Gaiman, and Terry Pratchett), plus a shelf for manga sorted by series, but other than that? It's mostly piles.

Keep, throw away, or sell?

People throw away books?

Keep dust jacket or toss it?

I love dust jackets! It drives me crazy that Pat removes them and loses them.

Read with dust jacket or remove it?

Depends on how difficult it makes things, but usually with it on.

Short story or novel?

Either, but generally novels.

Harry Potter or Lemony Snicket?

Harry Potter.

Stop reading when tired or at chapter breaks?

Keep reading well past tiredness to a chapter break... or two... or three.

"It was a dark and stormy night" or "Once upon a time"?

Yes?

Buy or borrow?

Do I know the person's works? Then buy. If I'm new to the author, borrow.

New or used?

Almost always new, though me + used books = dangerous ("why, I can get FIFTY BOOKS FOR ONLY $25!" "but only three are any good." "SHUT UP!")

Buying choice: book reviews, recommendations, or browse?

My friends tend to be more sf-readers than I am, so I'll borrow things from them if they suggest it but not buy it. I usually pick up new books by my favorites, and when those run out, I scour the library for interesting titles.

Tidy ending or cliffhanger?

Either or, and neither.

Morning reading, afternoon reading, or nighttime reading?

Always and whenever? Though I'm not usually up in the morning.

Stand-alone or series?

I'll read both.

Favorite series?

Terry Pratchett's Discworld series.
George R.R. Martin, A Song of Ice and Fire series.
Tanya Huff's Blood series.

Favorite children's book?

The Monster at the End of This Book, starring lovable cute furry old Grover

Favorite YA book?

Bridge to Terabithia

Favorite book of which nobody else has heard?

Hmmm... I don't know that I've read that many obscure books.

Favorite books read last year?

Terry Pratchett, Going Postal

Favorite books of all time?

Too many to list. Start with The Last Unicorn and The Princess Bride and The Fifth Elephant and Smoke and Mirrors and Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light and probably a few million others...

Least favorite book you finished this year?

All the books so far have been pretty cool.

What are you reading right now?

Christopher Priest, The Prestige

What are you reading next?

Guy Gavriel Kay, Sailing to Sarantium, and Whore's Carnival

Favorite book to recommend to an eleven-year-old?

Bridge to Terabithia

Favorite book to reread?

Tanya Huff, Gate of Darkness, Circle of Light

Do you ever smell books?

Yes.

Do you ever read Primary source documents?

Not often.

I love "The Monster at the End of This Book" too.

They also have "Another Monster at the End of This Book" but it has Elmo. Icky.
