NaNo Day 19, End
Nov. 19th, 2006 11:53 pmCrossed the 30k mark, woot! Only 2/5 of the thing to go!
I have split this into two parts, now: the script and an actual story-type story. (Really, it's almost more fanfic: it's about my WFRP character.) I figure, so long as I keep to my plan of sexy stories about lesbians, it's all good.

Date: 2006-11-20 06:53 am (UTC)Stats are 1-100, usually starting in the 20-50 range (generally falling in the 30s); when rolling against stats, you're going for a percentile under your stat. Skills either let you use the skill normally or allow you to add a percentage to that roll, depending on how many times you have the skill. (For example: I don't have Open Lock. Therefore, I double my roll when trying to open locks - and since my Int is 26, I have to get a 13 or less. If I had it once, I'd have to get 26 or less; for every subsequent time I have Open Lock, I get a +10%, so 36%, etc.)
Taking more wounds than you have health boxes means the ST rolls on Horrible Crippling Effects chart (lose legs/eyes/arms/fingers/whatever), up to and including your life. If he rolls Death, you die - unless you have a Fate Point, which prevents it. Humans start with between 1-4 fate points, I think; other races have less.
Magic may open you up to Cthuloid terrors from Beyond. On the other hand, it's a source of great power, including healing...
All potions are addictive. Including cure potions.
No matter what your stats are, your starting class is one of two randomly rolled classes. You might be a strong Noble or a stupid Wizard, or you might just get REALLY unlucky and start as a Rat Catcher or Gravedigger. (You can pretty easily switch out once you finish the class - it's not like you're stuck there forever - but the game assumes that fate will put you where it will to begin with.)
My character for this is a stupid and will-less thug (values of 26% and 24%, respectively, for Int and Wis/Will; but stronger than the average starting character and tougher, too). She's a little friendlier than average, too, so I play her as a pretty naive but friendly person that solves problems by smashing them.
She and her two best friends are the only survivors of a horrible zombie attack from their childhood (she was the youngest, at 4).
....aaaand that was a REALLY long answer to your question, with some answers that you didn't ask for. ;)

Date: 2006-11-20 07:07 am (UTC)I would say that Games Workshop's revenue probably primarily comes from said figurines, and yeah, they're probably the focus of the game for most people. The pen and paper RPG just uses the background setting/information that the war game has.
Kind of like if Magic had an associated pen-and-paper RPG.
