OMGWTFBBQ!!!!

*rage* It ate my post. Retry!

---

So here's the good news:

It is possible to get to Humber from my house in Brampton.

Here's the really fucking bad news:

It would take a minimum of two hours, and outside sources suggest a minimum of three and a half hours to do so.

Basically:

18 to City Centre (let's say 10 min.)
77 to Finch subway station (let's say 1.5 hours)
Finch to Bloor/Yonge
Bloor/Yonge to Kipling (subwaynavigator.com suggests the two subways will take 90 min.)
Kipling route 44 to Lakeshore Campus (let's say 10 min.)

Assuming that subwaynavigator.com isn't completely off-base...

Yeah, 3.5 hours.

*tears out hair*

Wow. That = insanity. Commuting 1 1/4 hours from Brampton to Toronto in my second year of university was bad enough. I do NOT recommend it.

Ride from Mom to Brampton downtown GO bus station, GO bus from Brampton downtown to Yorkdale, subway from Yorkdale to St. George.

Yeah, Brampton Transit stops a lot more. Plus, GO bus is a LOT more reliable in terms of times (usually within 5 minutes of the time it's supposed to be there), and a lot comfier (coach-style seats, like the bus on the Ohio trip). Buses to Yorkdale from Brampton are every half hour or thereabouts (I think more often in the morning rush hour).

I found a better way. If you look at this site:

http://www.gotransit.com/PUBLICROOT/NewVersion/pubnsch.asp?table=34&direction=0&day=1&page=2&city=9&station=BLEA&zone=32

it presents a more direct route to Humber by using the GO Bus service. The cost of the trip would be $4.15 per one direction from the Bramalea City Centre or to the City Centre. The only problem here is that since this seems to be the only route, you are stuck with buses coming every hour. The plus side is that the trip only takes 1hr 23min.

Oddly enough, for the return trip the site lists that it takes only 24min to get from Humber back to the Bramalea City Centre. But the price remains the same at $4.15.

http://www.gotransit.com/PUBLICROOT/NewVersion/pubNsch.asp?table=34&direction=1&day=1&New=&station=BLEA

Final note for the money conscious, here are their prices:

Single Ride: $4.15
Two Ride: $8.30
Ten Ride: $38.00
Monthly: $135.00

(These prices require a student card obtained from your school of origin, in this case, Humber)

Student Ten Ride: $33.25
Student Monthly: $97.00

All fares effective as of August 19, 2005

It's been a while since I checked the bus routes, and I know they've changed a bunch of them since then, so I'm not 100% sure how much credit these words will hold.

But, last I checked, the 11 ran down Steeles all the way down to Humber College. And the 18 still runs down Dixie by Steeles...

Yes, this trip is likely going to take you longer. A lot, lot longer; going down Steeles will probably take about an hour an a half on its own. But it's cheaper than the GO transit option Pete gave you ($2.00 per trip instead of about $3.38), so depending on whether you value time or money more (or which you are more willing to spend), you have your options.

Hey Alex, it's Krista (don't know if you remember me). I was just checking subwaynavagator.com, and it really overballs on times. It said that the ride from Runnymede (my station) to Dundas (my school) is 55 minutes. I know it's a 20 minutes subway ride because I just did it this morning (30 minutes on a bad day).

So yeah....it's really off.

Anything involving Brampton Transit I cringe at.

(But at least Brampton Transit keeps me from complaining about Ottawa...'s Sunday Schedule)

Why do you want to go to Humber?

Aww... so essentially if you goto humber you have to live nearer campus...
So, what you're saying, is you're like me... as I sure as hell won't be living at home and going to university in Ontario.

...You know, I could be looking for someone to live with downtown next year. I may be moving out of res, since my closest friends are graduating. I know we haven't seen each other in ages, but...*shrug*

Yeah...I think usually one room in a shared place costs $500 or so, but it might be higher with only two people. I've never looked into it all that much because my peanut allergy would likely be a problem sharing a place with people I don't know.

(With you, I don't know whether it would be or not. If it would be, I'm not offended.)
