Why are there less girls in science and math? ...and are we ever going to stop confronting this argument?
(I mean, seriously. My mother STILL gets angry when I say I hate math, and pushes me not to say such things. I still hate math. It has nothing to do with my success, failure, or teachers' past prejudices with me and the subject.)
Also, there is a Little Women play. That got me thinking about Little Women (a book I haven't read in years), Jo (who was always the coolest) and writing. I don't know where the train of thought is going yet.

Date: 2005-01-25 01:22 am (UTC)The argument will never stop being confronted because it represents the underlying notion that women cannot grasp "complex" concepts such as mathematics (not arithmetic) and that it's "naturally" so.
