Rules:

1. Pick one dozen movies that are ones that you have special feelings about.
2. Pick a few lines of dialogue that mean something to you.
3. As people guess the film, strike out that entry.
4. If possible, after the film is guessed, explain why that movie made the list.

--first, let me tell you: I can BARELY think of 12 movies I've SEEN, so your pool is pretty small.

Ones in italics with titles under them have been answered. Still up for grabs: 5, 8

1. "I always say perseverance is nine-tenths of any art--not that it's much help to be nine-tenths an artist, of course."

(If you can't get it from that: "There are no happy endings because nothing ends.")

The Last Unicorn; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] nijikongirl

2. "The video arcade is down the street. Here we just sell small rectangular objects. They're called books. They require a little effort on your part, and make no bee-bee-bee-bee-beeps. On your way, please."

The Neverending Story; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] sasuran

3. "Why do we need language?"
"To communicate..."
"Nooo! To woo women!"

Dead Poets Society; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] beergoddess

4. "What the hell kind of name is that? It's like some sort of superhero or something."
"What makes you think I'm not?"

Donnie Darko; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] sirivus

5. "Look, we can't do this 24 hours a day, seven days a week."
"Why not?"

6. "...happiness can be found even in the darkest of times, when one only remembers to turn on the light."

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] beergoddess

7. "Who scores the highest?"
"Asian chicks. Middle class Asian chicks that watch less than one hour of television a day."

(or: "You know, a lot of people would think these questions are difficult... not me."
"No?"
"No. These questions all have answers.")

The Perfect Score; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] beergoddess

8. "You, Freddy, what do you like to do?"
"I dunno. Burn stuff?"

9. "I am exhausted from living up to your expectations."

Labyrinth; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] sasuran

10. "Of course you are. And I'm coming with you."

The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] angeltrix

11. "I see we're making our visits a weekly ritual."
"Only so we can have these moments together. Should I, uh, hit the lights?"
"Oh, very clever, kangaroo boy."

Ten Things I Hate About You; guessed by [livejournal.com profile] beergoddess

12. "To trudge: the slow weary walk of a man that has nothing left in his life but the impulse to simply solider on."
"Uhhh... were you robbed?"
"[laughs] Funny really, yes, but at the same time, a huge, resounding no. It's more of an involuntary vow of poverty, really."

(Or, alternatively, "Pain, lots of pain."

And, because it's the last one and this scene was hilarious:

Wat: "Say something about her breasts."
Roland: "Yeah, you miss her breasts."
William: "Her breasts."
Chaucer: "Ye... yes, you... you could, umm... umm... but I... I would tend to look above her breasts, William."
William: "Well I... I miss her throat."
Chaucer: "Uh, still higher really, toward the heavens."
Kate: "The moon at least, her breasts were not that impressive.")

[livejournal.com profile] angeltrix got it first: A Knight's Tale

I tried to make them mostly obscure, so while they may not be the most FAMOUS quotes, they're certainly ones you should recognize.

# 10 is Sam's line to Frodo from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.
Number 12 is from A Knight's Tale... the dude with the bad gambling habit says it (I think his name's Chausser?). Number thirteen was the same movie (A Knight's Tale).

Lol... I wish to make a correction here. I just realized that there was no number thirteen, the quote just continued. Lol.. so I would like to say instead that number 12 is A Knight's Tale. That's my final answer.

1. Seen it, unsure... second quote sounds a bit Crow-ish?
2. Neverending Story

And some of the others sound familiar, but again, not sure!

Now that David Bowie's penis has been brought into it, I am positive 9 is Labyrinth!

I'd add something, but the only two I recognized immediately were pointed out by others, those being Donnie Darko at #4 and A Knight's Tale at #12. Reading the other comments, #2 does sound very Neverending Story-ish.

On other, more reaching limbs, uh, I'd guess that #8 is Drop Dead Fred, but I'm willing to admit it's a bad guess, since I only know of one person who actually liked that movie, and he was, well, demented at best. Then either #3 or #7 is from Ten Things I Hate About You. I especially like #7.

#3: Dead Poets' Society
#6: Harry Potter and the Prizoner of Azkaban
#7: The Perfect Score (just a guess)
#11: 10 Things I Hate About You
#12: A Knights Tale

on #1: I remember that "There are no happy endings because nothing ends" is in the Last unicorn, but I don't remember hearing that quote you used in there....
