So the plan with Jake went off without a hitch. Meet Edward Black, the new MPT correspondent - and also a mutant! Haha, no one will ever suspect.
Except for anyone with Mega-Wits or Mega-Perception. Angel has neither: the world rejoices!
In the meantime, the world is ending.
No, really.
Do you remember how the President of the USA was vanished on national television last September? And the entire White House with him? Oh, and how the area was bathed in quantum radiation, but we were willing to let it go as only MAYBE being mutant-related?
And we started this whole Wide Awake program to scan America for mutants and beat them horribly and do god knows what with them? And that there are quantum scanners EVERYWHERE? (This will be on the test later, so pay attention.)
Enter the Secretary of Some Random-Ass Thing who was the 30th in line for the presidency. He's about to give his inaugural speech (?) when the HAND OF GOD shows up.
Er, HAND OF GOD? I mean DIVIS MAL. And he melts him, and the entire body of the White House, like so much wax. And he's such a good host - he issues an invitation to all mutants to join him on his free mutant paradise, Barain! Forget the two million humans that live there - they'll be exterminated by the time you move in.
Thomas: "I INVESTIGATE HIS BRAIN."
Answer: Surprisingly, this is Dr. Mazarin, one of the two doctors that discovered the MR node (the source of mutant powers) in the first place. Seems he took that knowledge and used it to hyperstimulate his own node, making him AS POWERFUL AS THE HAND OF GOD.
Vicki: "I am full of terror and angst. I will use this as an excuse to call together all the mutants from the dorm at my camp, giving me ample opportunity to snuggle with Imago AND make eyes at my cheating ex-boyfriend!"
She does.
Jak--er, Edward: "How do I profit off of this, and barring that, kill them all?"
Answer: buy Quantum Bolt Mastery! Now guaranteed to range in the kilometres instead of metres, and do insane amounts of damage!
Arkham: "I wonder what my website cronies that research mutant culture will have to say about this. Where will this take my thesis?"
Answer: MUTANTS ARE FUCKING EVIL, OK?
Angel: "This sucks. Also, my boyfriend wants to go to Barain. Is this a bad sign?"
Answer: Your boyfriend is all for murdering innocent people. I'd say YES, but it won't matter soon because in about a week you'll both be dead.
Other important events:
Thomas, Jake and Arkham go off to Cuba to attempt to wrangle something out of Echo Mirage.
Ghost has a hostage situation with bombs and brings Angel in - to attempt to coerce her father. Unwittingly, he unlocks memories of HORRIBLE BEATINGS that her father gave her, up to and including forcing her six-year-old-self to strip an assault rifle and put it together again. Discovery time: Angel's father is a leader of Starchamber! Angel flies the bombs out of the building, saving lives. Ghost dies soon after, discovering that mox grenades mean no powers, and no powers mean bullets go in him instead of through.
Angel decides to Have Words with her father... who is apparently in France.
Left to her own devices, Vicki soon realizes that hey, there are holes in my cabins! She follows these to find Amy and Imminent Eschelon beating the everloving fuck out of each other. To make a long story short, Eschelon reveals that the Church of the Imminent Eschelon has a PLAN! They have developed technology that circumvents the quantum scanners - and they've discovered the MUTANT CONTAINMENT CAMPS where the American government performs HORRIBLE EXPERIMENTS ON MUTANTS. So they're planning to take an army of disenfranchised mutants to shut down Project Wide Awake and spring the mutants free.
And take them to Barain.
Vicki's all, "ARE. YOU. RETARDED." Kyle and Marcus (Angel's boyfriend) decide that they're going to go with Eschelon; Marcus flings a few choice words about gene traitors back in Angel, Wings and Vicki's direction. Eschelon, however, leaves behind a single quantum un-detection bracelet...

Meanwhile, Thomas, Jake and Arkham have hit some turbulence. Thomas, in an attempt to keep the plane together, crashes them. ...and then he flies off to Cuba.
Somewhere in here, Omega kills Alpha and gives Thomas the reins to EchoMirage, right before Dr. Mazarin/HAND OF GOD melts him.
So now we have stealth helicopters!

Vicki and Angel desperately scramble for a plan that will foil Imminent Eschelon while simultaneously saving the American mutants. Aaron helps; Imago is notably absent overall. Eventually, they learn of the stealth helicopters, and Thomas sends one over. The plan is to invade the Louisiana camp, get enough damning evidence, and force the U.N. to have the U.S. tried for torture.
This plan would have worked, except that:
-Vicki has little intelligence and no Intrusion, and Aaron was not there to help us (he was flying the helicopter);
-the camp's hospital had mox gas pump through its system every 30 minutes
-Marines are surprisingly stamina-matic, so using nonlethal force was difficult.
Eventually, Vicki had to 'die for power' to blast a guy with Entropic Blast, the unsoakable lethal power, so that she and Angel could escape. They fly with Aaron to Cuba, because they recieve word from Thomas to do so.

But that is where I will pick up the story, for it is 7 AM and I may actually be able to sleep now.
