Jul. 22nd, 2004 09:32 amSufficiently advanced technology may be indistinguishable from magic in the future, but for the time being it can be indistinguishable from art
I can appreciate something like that from a technological perspective (one of the things we do at our machine demonstrations is cut dice), but I'm sort of uncertain on how it makes me feel as an artist (good one or not).
Stephen Hawking Wrong About Black Holes?
I'm just amused that it's being pitched as Stephen Hawking being wrong. Still, that's good; it means the scientific community is working as it should (and the baseball encyclopedia is a cute touch).

Still sick. (Blarg.)
Pat came by last night to help me out with the computer; I think, in the end, I had it working reasonably well. Things are still running slowly, but I'll be tinkering over tonight and tomorrow and hopefully it'll work out.
We went to see King Arthur last night. Squee! I know, I know: it bears little resemblance to any "real" King Arthur legend, but for what it was - a war story - I thoroughly enjoyed it. And the sex jokes were pretty funny. ;) ("#3's a real fighter." "That's because he's mine.") All in all, a good time.
I made Pat stay with me until 3 AM, because I started feeling sad and overall kind of mediocre. And I love Pat, dearly, but for the record? "That's because you probably are" isn't the right answer. (Paraphrased, but that's what it boiled down to.)
And then I had a nightmare which woke me up at 5:30 AM. >.< So, overall, it wasn't a great night for sleep. Still, I'm less tired than any given day last week...
Anyway. I think I'm over the mediocrity thing, at least for the time being. (Isn't this supposed to hit at, like, 35? 40? Blah.)
At least sex is fun.

Date: 2004-07-22 07:09 am (UTC)About King Arthur...
Date: 2004-07-22 08:30 am (UTC)But, I haven't actually seen it myself. But it was Mei who told me this, and I trust Mei's opinion on movies. As opposed to, day, Steph's, who has this habit of falling in love with every single bad movies she sees. (I don't think she's seen this one though.)

Re: About King Arthur...
Date: 2004-07-22 08:43 am (UTC)It's not the pinnacle of cinematic experiences, but for God's sake, it was King Arthur. I wasn't expecting Citizen Kane or something.

Date: 2004-07-22 11:08 am (UTC)I realize. I just wish I was, like, "mediocre with potential to become noteworthy, if not exceptional". I feel just... mediocre.

Date: 2004-07-22 12:50 pm (UTC)That's what I'm hoping this writing course will do. *crosses fingers* I'm usually much more productive if I have a deadline that means something (NaNoWriMo, not so much - essay for school, yes).
