ARGH!

1) The truck drivers are doing it again. >.<

2) My little brother is here, because my stepmother and my sister are apparently at a spa or something. Therefore, the 11-year-old holy terror is here. No really, I love Eddie. But... holy terror.

3) My family has now FUCKED THEIR COMPUTER UP SO BADLY that Internet Explorer takes upwards of a minute to load, and another two to display a screen - and it's not worth the effort to try and go any further than that. Folders are the same. Programs will work OK, but the sheer number of popups... ARGH.

And, of course, this is OBVIOUSLY my fault, since my parents "only use it for Spider and e-mail".

One. That still doesn't negate my sister.
Two. You're still using the internet.
Three. If it's MY fault, then please explain HOW, exactly, it is that when I left for Waterloo on the weekend, we had 3 programs come up on an AdAware scan (which I got rid of)... and when I returned, there were 101?!?!?! <- which has never happened within the space of three days when I was controlling the computer.

I assume that they're probably clicking on things they shouldn't.

4) To compound things, they don't have the WinXP CD, so I can't install the latest Windows Updates. >.<

>.< I'm going to go buy Norton Antivirus, but I'm starting to suspect that the only way to fix the damn thing is ritual cleansing in fire.

Get rid of the following:
Internet explorer
Outlook Express

and replace them with something else (I suggest firefox or thunderbird)

Do you use Outlook? That's even worse. Yeah Firefox and Thurdebird are free (as in gratis). Here's the link: http://www.mozilla.org/products/firefox/

It may also be worthy to note that windows has some really bad security holes that allow people to infect your computer (over the internet) without you actually doing anything.

Umm, Windows Update generally doesn't require the CD.

I was going to suggest Ad-Aware, but it seems you've already got that. Make sure it's up to date.

Also, don't waste time and money buying Norton Antivirus. Download the free trial thingy, and I can send you a hack that lets you keep updating your virus definitions without having to pay them anything. It's a small dinky file, I can send it to you sometime over MSN.
