[livejournal.com profile] theferrett has recently made a post where he asks people to ask him... well, whatever they feel like asking. I must admit, I pulled a little bit of an LJ-ho stunt ("what do you think of me based on my LJ?", heh), but I have also asked a couple of actual questions.

I envy him, not just because a simple offer to answer questions has gotten him 70 comments (at least 35 of which have to be someone else, possibly more), but because people actually took him up on it. Damnit, I want to be asked questions!

Please? It can be like an early birthday present. ;)

And I will answer anything, so make sure you want to know.

What one memory would you most like to forget, for reasons of acute and ear-burning embarassment? Just like Immortals though, there can be only one, Alex of the Many Answers. ;>)
Is there a food that you refuse to eat on principles, rather than actually disliking it? Which is it, and what trauma resulted in this sad state of affairs?
So, what kind of changeling would I be then? And why does it make sense, hunh? 'Splain 'splain! *bounce*
Of the foreign countries you've visited, where you most like to plonk permanently, and whycome?

Geeky questions! :D

Lets add my own personal maddnes to this question thing... *evilgrins*
Alrighty, here we go.
Favorite number??
Favorite colour??
Full name??
Birth Date??

Okay, now for the harder ones...

Assume for a momment, that you and one of your friends are each on a ray of light(Don't ask how you got there, or why, just go with it). You are each on your own ray of light, and you are traveling directly towards each other... now, with all that background applied, which friend did you pick to be on the light game of chicken with you??

Which came first, the chicken, or the egg??

What is your personal definition of love??
... or friendship??

Why did the pirate go into the bar with a steering wheel down his pants??

What is your favorite aminal?? (no that is not a typo :P )

What question would you like to be asked most, but haven't yet??

If you had control of the entire planet, what would you do first??

Okay, I think thats enough sillyness for now...
I wonder what people would ask me...

Oh don't even get me started. Obviously the egg. There is general agreement that mammals evolved from reptiles, or something similar. Chickens are mammals. Chickens evolved from reptiles. Reptiles have eggs. QED.

Stupid?! It's brilliant! It's one of the socio-political/environmental commentary songs out there, about the DFO regulations and the closing of the East Coast fishery! 'Cause it actually MEANS something!

:P !

From the perspective of the small-scale fishers rather than the trawlers.

Yes.

if I could hear it as satire about what I hear from the east coast, then I'd like it... but it sounds too close.

Its over fished, it needs to be regulated. If that means no fishing, people gotta deal.

I can sympathise loosing a way of life, but really, big picture.

Sexy ones.

And that's where I come in, my dear. ;-) Or, at least, I'll try. I'm a perv, but I'm certain you know this.

So. I hear you like women. When did you realise it? [and you can delete this if I'm sharing too much. *looks around*]
Favourite female celebrity based purely on looks?
Underwear: simple, shiny, or "underwear?" Bonus points for an opinion - or several - on thongs.
Loss of virginity: liberating or traumatizing? [that's honestly all I'm asking for; if you've not yet, what you think it will be]
What's the kinkiest thing you've ever done [and yes, I DO want to know]?

Aaaand, because I have to go to bed right quick, I only have one more question, and it's the Ho-Question: "What do you think of me?" [be honest, please. *smiles*]

No, they've got a lot of good reason to be pissed. When the trawlers first started coming in, the small scale fishers went "Um, guys, there's something wrong with the fish" and the DFO said "No, no, there's no problem with the fish" (*whisper whisper* Boss, I'm not so sure our estimates have been quite - "Shut up, Bob!!) Fishing continues ("Boss, I'm pretty sure..." "Not now!!"). Small scale fishers get increasingly upset. Trawler and small scale fishery associations go to war. Small scale keeps going after DFO to lower the quotas. DFO (Federal Department of Fisheries and Oceans) refuses (even though they know the figures they've been using to do the estimates for quotas are wrong, and are assuming there's more fish than there actually is). Small scalers throw up their hands in despair, open their pocket books, and hire another group to go out and do the analysis and review the DFO's work.

They prove the DFO knew the quotas were too high, cost the East Coast their fish. (Then take 'em to court, I believe.)

It was a case of /extreme/ mismanagement. I have as many issues with the way it was dealt with after as anyone else, but the fact is, if the small scale fishers hadn't pushed for the quotas to be changed (leading to the closure), it may very well have collapsed even sooner/even worse. It was an attempt at stewardship by the little guys that got screwed over a government that kept fudging the figures to keep the trawlers happy. But in the end, the government couldn't differentiate between the two groups (which does make sense, but it sucks for the ones that tried to DO something about the problem) and had to shut out both the ones that caused it and those that tried to stop it.

I've got a good book on environmental cases in the 20th century (called something like that) with a big chapter dedicated to the East Coast fishery. I'll try and remember to bring it with me to Ottawa so I can lend it to you. :) It was a really interesting case, it's just the politics of what happened after (how does the government deal with all these people once it's cost them their livelihoods) that made the controvery worse - really, they're two seperate issues.

Would you choose Patrick over your family?

Patrick over your friends?

Would you prefer to live with the people you have now for the rest of your life or want to just start fresh?

Do you miss high school?

If you could have an orgy with anybody, dead or alive (they would end up alive for the purposes of this because we're magical faeries who enjoy sex and can do whatever we want *cackles*) who would it be with??
