While normally I have a fantastic schedule that most people would kill for, December is when everyone crawls out of the woodwork and demands massages. Unfortunately if I'm not careful that can get really, really painful, very, very quickly. On top of that, my grandmother passed away on the 21st, so everything got thrown into total disarray regarding Christmas plans (they've mostly settled down now), but my last week and this week kind of has looked/will look like this:
Dec 21: Work in AM. Find out grandmother died. Work in PM. Went to parents' place after work for comfort/grieving/etc.
Dec 22: Help stepdad start clearing out grandmother's house, pack up 55 years of stuff. (Admittedly got some beautiful old china out of this.)
Dec 23: Continue to help clear out grandmother's house.
Dec 24: Work in Waterloo. Return to Brampton for Christmas Eve.
Dec 25: Go to mom's in Brampton for presents, then to dad's in Vaughan for Christmas afternoon/evening dinner (it lasts five hours from 1-6)
Dec 26: My "day off", went to IKEA to get a couple of items and put them together in a three-hour frenzy with Simon, then unpacking the rest of my stuff manically in prep for the 28th
Dec 27: (I was supposed to work in Waterloo today, too.) Funeral in the afternoon; pre- and post- funeral (and dinner) will be manically prepping for...
Dec 28: Work 5 hours in a row (no break) and then rush home to make sure everything is ready for my hosting Christmas dinner
Dec 29: Work 5.5 hours in a row (no break) and then rush to Guelph for another Christmas dinner
Dec 30: Go to Beamsville for a third holiday dinner (I may opt out of this in the interest of not having a screaming meltdown)
And then I have plans on the 31st to see a comedy extravaganza in Toronto, followed by dinner.
And after that, I quit the universe for a month.
