So I've been doing a LOT of career figuring-out type stuff lately, the most recent being (at Meagan's suggestion) the exercises from What Color Is Your Parachute? by Richard Nelson Bolles.
One of the exercises he suggests is to take his list of 246 skills and list those you can and can't do. Then, pick your top five favorite things you LOVE to do. I narrowed it down to 20.
So first of all, my top 20 looks like this:
( To keep it short... )
So I play around with these, rating them all against one another and coming up with a final list, and then selecting out my top five. My final list looks like this:
1. Traveling (beats everything)
2. Singing
3. Performing
4. Winning
5. Acting
...
I showed this to SimonL and was like, "what do these mean to you?"
Him: "You should go on America's Got Talent?"
Me: "I was thinking Canadian Idol, but yeah."
If I condense sing/perform/act into one item, it looks like this:
1. Traveling
2. Performing
3. Winning
4. Drawing
5. Reading
"So what you're telling me is I'll be a starving artist forever."
