Aug. 17th, 2006 10:17 am"The way dividing up a book usually worked was: The developer puts together an outline of stuff he wants in the book ("History chapter, X,000 words, New funky powers, X,000 words, Attitudes towards square dancing, X,000 words"). The authors look this over, see what tickles their fancy, and call stuff out. ("Ooh, can I dibs the fiction? I've got this lesbian ninja sex scene I've been DYING to get on paper!" "No.") There's discussion, to hopefully ensure continuity, and if two authors want to write the same piece, it's settled by the traditional knife-fight-with-left-hands-tied-together.
Pretty simple, really."
