Ren!

So the first time I went to Ren, neither Joyee and Steven OR Patrick were there... but it was all good, in the end.

So Patrick (who was driving us) and I pick up Meagan and Emerald's-brother-Brad, Meagan looking very sexy, Brad looking like a gay Spaniard. I was amused. Brad asked Patrick to go as his date, but since Patrick wasn't staying, he claimed Meagan; I tried to claim Meagan before him, but it did not work. But he did say the three of us could share each other, so it was all good.

We made a lot of fun of Patrick on the way there, because it's so easy and fun!

So we get dropped off and there is almost no one in Ren. Emerald, however, was there, and regaled us with tales of her horrible awful day. Poor Emerald. Kink came on the TV, so we started watching that; at one point, Brad made the observation that "even in today's technologically advanced society, we still haven't found a way to get rid of beached whales..."

At some point, Dylan and Clara showed up. Apparently, they're getting married in summer 2005. I didn't even know they were engaged... it is a very weird thought to think of Dylan as married. Lots of making fun of Emerald for Tomoe being a ninja, and we asked Dylan if Shinji was as well ("Ventrue ninja versus Ventrue ninja... FIGHT!")... he was like, "no!" and so Meagan said, "Ah, obviously you are a samurai, all honor and blood!" To which my reply was, "AH! They are obviously MORTAL ENEMIES!" We kept trying to convince them to have a deathmatch but there was nothing for it.

Brad, Emerald, Clara and I danced briefly, but there were too few people on the dance floor to make it worthwhile at that point so we sat down.

At some point, Nicole, Andrew, and Lance showed up (Lance didn't even see me at first, which was amusing, because I was the most brightly dressed), and then David, Shawna-Lee (sp?), Sean Dalziel... Apparently Diana was there, but I never even saw her. Phil and his boyfriend (I think, I was never formally introduced)... And the dancing and drinking began!

Meagan and I danced together all sexy-like twice, in the interest of having stories to tell Patrick to make him buy us shiny things. Nicole had to tell Brad to pick his jaw up off the floor, and we joked about rendering David speechless ("No, I was perfectly capable of speech... 'Hey, look at that!'"). Lance, however, had missed the first dance, and since he was the reason we were all there, we had to put on a repeat performance. So we did. Fun!

At one point, Dylan was talking to Sean and doing the Dr. Evil pinky-thing... so I asked, "Dylan, is it a bad thing that my first thought was, 'what language are you trying to speak?'" (LARP hand signal, for the uninitiated). Dylan didn't hear me but Sean cracked up.

Then there was the guy at the mini-bar behind us. He asked me questions about our big group, and shook/kissed my hand and welcomed me to my first time at Ren. And gave me two glow sticks! I was amused. And he was hot. And in ES at Waterloo... time to set up stalking parties. I mean... nothing... *cough*

What else... lots of retro music, but also a lot of hip-hoppish music that I don't much like dancing to. I still did, but... I dunno. Methinks I need to go to clubs on retro nights, because I don't like the music otherwise.

Anyway, after dancing and drinking at Ren, we headed over to Mel's, which was full, so we headed over to The Pita Factory instead. Mmmm, Greek salad pita... much talking. Meagan and David decided I was cute. I was amused.

"Just think of how many shiny things Patrick would buy us if we kissed!"
"Hell, we don't even need to kiss - if we just act like we're about to kiss, and then milk him for shiny things, and then we kiss, we get double the shiny things!"

We're so mercenary in our quest for shinies...

Much fun!
