1. I loathe my cell phone, but theoretically (after exactly 4 hours of charging and toying with it) it now works.
2. No, I still don't know the phone number. Djhenius. It isn't written ANYWHERE, and I have no idea how to find it.
3. I actually woke up after ~9 hours of sleep, all on my own. This means I woke up at 2 PM, but it's a start. ;)
4. NationStates is fucking addictive. XD Iulius is currently embroiled in a battle to save Demoness and her Empress, Jia Li... tried to get in and sort things out before a civil war, but too late... and now like twenty countries are involved, about 5 helping Jia Li, 5 against, and the rest watching on, waiting to either get the pickings or offering aid.
5. I am cold.
6. I can't figure out ANYTHING currently. I need to be back at my computer, so I can write, and do up quizzes, and download music. Still, I need to be here so that I can see the B.dot friends. ;)

I am cold. Wait, I said that already...

Someone put this up on a community I'm in, but it was an old thread, so I decided that while I'd answer it, I'd do it for myself, to assess my roleplaying (in a manner of speaking).

1) When you first create a character, do you consciously consider how it's likely to function in relation to other PCs?

Not really. I tend to play in games where a group is more thrown together... very rarely are characters old childhood friends, who grew up with wholly different personalities and so one became a mage and the other a fighter, type of scenario. Usually I just make what I want to play, often sampling a new character class. I don't think I've played the same class more than once.

RIFTS: Shifter, TechnoWizard, Star Child, Samurai
D&D: Bard, Wizard, Paladin
Vampire: Malkavian, plans to play a Toreador at some point
LotR: Gypsy Minstrel (which is kind of like Bard, I suppose)

So... Usually it's just about what I want to be upon creation.

2) Do you generally think of your characters as stars in their own story, part of other characters' stories, or members of an equal team?

Often I find, through no mechanism of my own, that the characters fall by the wayside to let other characters take the limelight, but provide backing for the others. The only exception to this was Tad the Paladin, but he was an exception and a throwaway character. Nechai (the Gypsy Minstrel) is sort of a main character, but he's struggling to be even that. We have a lot of want-to-be-the-main-character in that game. Mostly Nechai stops people from being stupid and protects Galador. For the most part, they're members of an equal team, with a tendency to be there to help other characters. The exception is Lidia (the Malkavian), who is a star of her own story, just by virtue of it being LARP. Her drama is affected by other players, and possibly others see her as only existing to help them, but she's got her own story going on... rather like real life. :P

3) Would you be content playing an otherwise involving and well-run campaign where the main focus was always on someone else's personal plotline, and you were just helping them achieve their private goals rather than concentrating on your own?

I'm not sure. More often than not, it's a common goal that we're reaching for; I don't think I've ever played a game where the characters are out to solve a goal for ONE of the PCs. I don't think I'd enjoy that, though.

4) Does it vary widely from game to game whether you're playing a leader or a follower, or do you tend to stick to roughly the same sorts of roles?

In games where I, as a player, feel the need to make my character lead (for my own sanity), I do it. Most of the time, though, I play the sarcastic sidekick, or the token woman. ;P

5) Have you ever played a character that was completely subserviant to another PC (a squire, servant, ghoul, etc.) for any length of time? Did you enjoy it, or did it become frustrating?

No, and I wouldn't.

6) In considering the above, does it make a significant difference to you whether you're playing in a tabletop game or a LARP?

Haven't played in a LARP game long enough to know whether being subserivent to another character would be enjoyable. I may find out if I get that Toreador made...
