alexmegamiSo Werewolf tonight was totally awesome, and I promise I'm not just saying that because Mackenzie totally pulled not only an exceptional success out of her ass, but an exceptional success in something that she's [almost] completely unequipped to do, against a spirit that was totally blown apart by it [for the time being].
(Todd helped.)
(Basically: Mackenzie has a natural Strength 1, Brawl 1. She was in Urshul, so +2 bite, +2 Str. Still not very good, but at least she's now got chances of 1 success against Stick, the local evil dude's Spirit-Ridden lackey. Todd attacks earlier in the round, giving her 4 dice, and she blows WP and goes all-out, giving her 9 dice.
Todd deals a couple of lethal, then Mackenzie does. They each take a bit of bashing because Stick is made of, well, sharpened sticks.
Then Stick TOTALLY KNOCKS TODD OUT ON HIS ASS RIPPING OUT HIS TRACHEA [which healed, but].
Then Mackenzie is like, "Fuck you, you stole my brother and injured my packmate and I'm not going to take it any more" and TOTALLY BITES HIM IN HALF FOR SIX SUCCESSES oh, and was totally healed, like, fifteen seconds later.)
(Yeah. I fuckin' rock.)
To commemorate, here are a few shorts for Werewolf! (Note: "Drowning" is what happened immediately prior to said combat.)
025. Trouble Lurking
His sister watches TV. All the time. If she's not doing that, she's playing on her Game Boy Advance. Somehow, it just sucks her in. Sometimes it turns on when no one's watching but him, and with no remote in sight. Jude doesn't know why, but it gives him the creeps.
He comes home one night to see her half-sucked into the screen, silvery wires attaching to her. She's crying out to him, and when he pulls her free, her neck pops away with a sickening sound and he can still hear her crying inside
And he wakes up coated in sweat.
037. Eyes
"Do you think I should tell Mom?" Mackenzie asks her father as they drive away from the locus, the memory of the Wound still fresh in her mind, the image of Todd killing his mother dancing in her head.
"It’s up to you," he says. "Is it a good idea?"
She is silent for a long time. "I think so."
"I’ll take you to visit another like her, then," he says, and they drive for hours in quiet, to a little tiny town that no one cares about.
Her name is Harmony, and her grandfather was one of the People, and he told her about the People and what they fought. So when the spiders came, and paralyzed her, and ate out her eyes, and whispered to her "tell him what we have done"... she had at least understood.
044. Two Roads
They had watched as King Road fell, barely able to battle the Char-You Tree and then unable to defend himself against the onslaught of the Wound’s minions. How the inky black tentacles had wrapped around him, pulling him in, sucking him into the hole that they formed from.
And now, looking at Heaven Thunder Road, smaller, broken, enslaved… they could only feel pity. But never regret, they told themselves. Never regret.
091. Drowning
The elder werewolf is smug, secure in the knowledge that he holds their kin. His spirit-ridden bodyguard stands by, a man of stick and bark.
"They could be drowning," Stan says. "Suffocating somewhere. I might have already killed them. You’ll never know – maybe they’re still alive, and I’ll only kill them if you disobey me."
Mackenzie looks at him appraisingly. "Let’s look at this logically." Her voice is hard. "If you’re drowning them, you would have had to have started well before we arrived in order to meet us here; therefore, they’re already dead. The same holds true for them suffocating. If they’re alive, we can track them down. We have no reason to listen to you or do as you say."
Todd is a little bit awed, Jude stunned, Stan completely enraged. And that’s when the violence begins.
