For some reason, lately, I have been wanting to own a home... mostly for purposes of decoration/interior design. I really, really want to put together my own living space - maybe not decide how the building itself is designed, because that would add a significant chunk to cost, but choosing paints, wallpaper, carpeting, flooring, furniture...

Along a similar vein, I want to plan a wedding. Mind you, I don't actually want to get married - the very thought strikes terror and amusement/bemusement into my heart - I just want to choose flowers, look at dresses, pick a ring, figure out meals that would accomodate my friends (and all your wacky dietary restrictions ;), choose a hall, figure out where to have a ceremony, seating plans, and everything else that I'm sure, for example, Meaghan could tell me I'm forgetting... ;)

I don't know what it is. Seriously weird. At least the interior design thing makes sense - I want a place to call my own, and that's not going to happen for a little while yet - but the wedding thing? NO idea where that's coming from.

Not enough stress in your life currently? :)

It's really nice when it's all done, though I had to survive a lot of frustration from being unhandy.

It’s because of your new job, Alimylove. You’re a product of your surroundings and your new surroundings tend to promote interior design and wedding planning.

Unless you haven't started... if that's the case, then you're in need of that pill to stop femininity that they give ladies in Brave New World. ;)

If you want my psychological take on it, I'd say you're probably feeling like there's not a lot in your life that's in your control at the moment, and you want to be able to plan and accomplish something all on your own. Environment (see above comment about your job) probably plays a role, as well.

If you want just my general reaction, I'd say - had you thought about looking in to becoming a wedding planner? Weddings are big affairs, and lots of people will pay you good money to worry about details like dietary restrictions, colors, table arrangements, etc. Might be worth taking a look at if you think it's the kind of thing you'd enjoy doing.

Maybe you can help me come up with ideas for my wedding. I'm at a stump on how to actually make a wedding interesting. (I find them to be really really boring)

I think most of the process is boring. I think I might just have a really small attention span though. I fell asleep during my own graduation.

I'm sure it's just a phase, although one to be happy about. I remember being younger and looking at old catalogues (when they used to do that...Consumer's Distributing 4 teh win!) in order to plan how my room would be transformed along with my attic into a house/awesome place of its own. I imagined a kitchen section, a sleeping section, a winding staircase, an entertainment section, and an automated breafast making device (pancakes :)).

Good times ^_^

Consequently, if you need someone to help plan, I'm around and wouldn't mind getting back into the spirit ;)
