More poetry!
May. 22nd, 2001 08:17 pmWe did more poetry writing in TITC English... so... here's the results. The 'title' is what our "subject" was. (The first one was the sonnet we had to write on the weekend.)
Sonnet (for lack of a better title)
With hair of gold and eyes of azure blue
She lays quite still, her breath is soft and slow
She stirs, and how my heart flutters anew;
That she is unreachable brings me woe.
A goddess could not be as elegant,
To Aphrodite she exceeds compare;
In beauty she is in her element,
Yet of these blessings she is unaware.
If patience a virtue, she is righteous;
If morality blessed, she the most pure;
In allure, not salacity, Venus;
My longing never shall be truly cured.
Nights fill with dreams, and during my slumber
I forget how love tears me asunder.
Invitation
Come with me
To a world of imagination
Illusion
Of roses and princes
Of innocence and happiness
It may sound too good to be true
But remember
After I have taken you there
You must leave on your own
Roses and princes must turn back into
Hatred and hedonists.
But come with me now
To my world of roses
White horses and Prince Charming
A moment away from
The world's forgotten ideals.
Quiet
The organ plays, the procession moves onward silently
Fleeting thoughts run through my head as I watch
Did you know in Japan, white is the color of death?
White roses, everywhere.
People are crying. There is silence
As the priest speaks.
His leaden tones fill the empty space.
He asks if anyone has anything to say.
I wish I could.
His final words drop into the void around me:
"You may kiss the bride."
Please, a moment of silence for my loss.
Then, there's the beloved Pen of Doom! series... (I kept thinking, "People are being scared by these poems. One person in my class if I had trouble getting close to people. ^^; Heh... Wait until she hears my sonnet. >.>;;;)
These are "Simultaneous Action" poems. In other words, write about something that's happening right now (at that time, 10 AM EST), somewhere else in the world. I realized halfway through that if it was 10 AM here, it would actually be 11 PM in Japan... Sigh.
#1 (Japan)
As I sit here, contemplating life with my Pen of Doom
Somewhere, halfway around the world, children are playing
Pink cherry blossoms scatter around them
The sweet scent of flowers mingled with ice cream
The promise of candy - if you won't spoil your dinner
The warm sun filling their skin
Arms slung 'round their friends' shoulders
Laughter, happiness
School is out.
#2 (San Fransisco)
In San Fransisco
The fog is lifting
The sun is rising
Already, horns are blaring
Streets are still mountainous
To make your legs ache
Smoke and smog fill your lungs
And leave you feeling grimy
School starts soon
While I sit here,
Already filling my pages
With the Pen of Doom.
So I'm in a good mood. ^_^
