Someone please explain to me why I thought it was a good idea to write a gothic story set in Victorian-era London, when I know nothing about gothic writing, Victoriana, or London.

And especially none of those three combined.

Well, except for Dracula, which I'm now contemplating ripping off EVEN MORE THAN just poaching Van Helsing (like everyone else in the world).

Rar.

I actually do know a fair bit about Victorian London, esp. as relating to literature in the period. So if you have any questions, you can ask...I can probably find the information if I don't know it offhand.

Also, Wikipedia is your friend. But then, you knew that already. =D

Hmm...let's see. To start, there's the obvious class breaks - silks and velvets and such would be worn mostly by the upper class, and reserved for evening wear except in the case of the extremely wealthy and/or foppish. This might help a bit.

ooh! this is like my specialty too...like totally what i studied my entire undergrad....think corsets and large crinoline dresses with underwiring...think conservatism and prim and proper--they dont like overt fun, they like to be uptight (overtly...)! lol! watch the corpse bride...or anything tim burton esque...

*lol* That's awesome. I love choices like that.

The end result should be pretty awesome, though! Good luck :D
