Or they just think that belief in Jesus/God is enough to get them in the good books. Which is sad, but surprisingly often the case with some of the wackier ones. (cf. Jack Chick and his tract about the mass murderer who gets into Heaven, whereas the kind and loving - Buddhist? Catholic? Don't remember offhand - goes to hell because they didn't accept Jesus. Yep.)

A lot of religions expect a LOT of people in their actual scriptures - it always amazes me how quickly people are to forget things like that (and that it's usually those practicing >.< ). :S
