Argh, the internet is down! How will I ever slack off now?! I suppose it's good for my productivity -- oh wait, I'm writing this LJ post in Notepad. There goes THAT theory...
Anyway, so I had to come in to work early today - Dad (Russ) was playing golf in Bolton at 8AM, so my options were "get dropped off at the City Centre early" or "get up early and catch the bus to the City Centre". Obviously, I took the faster and more comfortable (though earlier) route.
I got to work at 8:20AM. >_< Eugh.
This is on top of me needing to take a shower this morning (got up at 6AM)... I went to bed at midnight. I fell asleep closer to 3AM.
I is ded. ;_; Also, my stomach has been acting up in the mornings this past week. SUCKS.
Anyway, I promised news about Exalted, and I also promised Amber I'd tell her about new Mage, so here goes. :D
By the way, Exalted people: if you have a weapon, think of a suitably anime/fantasy-ish name for it. (Excalibur, Masamune, Leafcutter, Visan's Ruin are all examples of something you could name it. But try and be creative. ;P)
Exalted has started well. As far as I can tell, everyone enjoyed themselves.
The game opened with each of them cresting the hills that surrounded the valley with their tomb, the sun rising behind the great ivory and gold spires of their burial ground. This majestic sight was awesome and terrifying until everyone noticed that Hiro (Dawn Caste, played by Jason) was pretty much buck naked. (Things went downhill from here ;)
This caused Slade (Night Caste, played by Stefan) to start with the elevator eyes, and Azure (Eclipse Caste, played by SimonB) to start trying to sell him clothes. Hilarity ensues because 1) Hiro is poor in the way that country bumpkins are; 2) Lahna (Twilight Caste, played by Min) notices that Azure has FREAKIN' SHARK TEETH; 3) Gregory (Zenith Caste, played by Pete) remains
blissfully unaware of most of the scuffle and goes over to investigate the tomb.
Azure winds up giving Hiro clothes on the promise that he'll pay him back eventually, or work off his debt. Hiro dresses; Slade is sad in the way that h00rs are. Lahna continues to freak out about the shark-man until her giant cat sniffs at him and Azure starts play-wrestling. They become instant friends so Lahna is a little less worried about SHARK MAN.
A brief examination of the tomb's door lets them figure out how to get in; each of them has a handprint to press in accordance with Caste. The fact that Old Realm is useful to know starts to become apparent.
After getting inside, they finally start introducing themselves. This leads to more amusement as they start, get distracted by the giant gold interior of the place, and then start over. Then they realize that hey, those five statues used to be them!
Lahna is confused because her tomb was apparently owned by a guy that was easily two feet taller than she is. And was a guy. Hiro is sad because he used to be called "fucking Bloodwalker". Azure is... amused, mostly, that he used to be an Amazon. Literally, with the one breast that he cut off himself and everything. Slade memorizes his name (Torment) for later reference.
Gregory goes into his tomb after looking at the statue. Sadly, switches are not as evident as statues, and only barely manages to not set himself totally on fire (though his sleeve still takes a beating). However, the same cannot be said of the room! This is an issue, since he sort of wants his stuff back. Wacky hijinks ensue as he calls over Azure for help, then starts leaping into the tapestries dangling from the ceiling so he can drop down from above onto his tomb. Azure winds up standing there and watching, being totally inept with a knife, but Gregory manages to find the switch to turn off the gouting flames (on top of his tomb).
*** Gregory has leveled up! Gained 1 good-luck charm, 1 orichalcum daiklaive
Meanwhile, Lahna has gotten into her tomb (which is eerily... not full of traps). She starts flipping through some of her old magic books, and picks up a few for later study. She also grabs her giant orichalcum scythe. The cat is confused by objects in the room. Lahna does not know why.
*** Lahna has leveled up! Gained 5 magic tomes, 1 orichalcum scythe
Slade is having less luck in his room. Namely, he didn't notice the fact that there were edges in the floor where it was set to fall out if you stepped on it too hard. And the rusty spikes that were underneath weren't so cool either. Thankfully, he managed to catch himself on one of the rafters that kept his tomb from crashing down too; however, this didn't help him since he was now stuck halfway into the room, and still without his staff. Hiro had to come in and save him with the use of Graceful Crane Stance to leap lightly from rusty spike to rusty spike, carrying Slade back to the entrance and grabbing the Serpent Sting Staff off the wall.
*** Slade has leveled up! Gained 1 orichalcum staff
Hiro goes to investigate his room after this, also triggering the trap on his (a crushing ceiling that didn't go back up). Annoyed by this, he and Azure try and break the ceiling open. This results in them spending a loooot of Essence, plus a few lines like "DAMNIT! Raging... Shark... FOREHEAD ATTACK! *punch punch headbutt*"
Eventually, between FOUR of them (Hiro, Azure, Slade and Gregory) they managed to break the thing open (by which I mean they turned it into so much dust). All this for an amulet with a gem in it.
*** Hiro has leveled up! Gained 1 orichalcum amulet, 1 Hearthstone of I Will Never Fucking Die (OK, not quite, that's a level 5 hearthstone, but it might as well be)
Azure and Hiro then wander over to Azure's tomb. They hear chittering. Jason decides Hiro will try chittering back. (A successful Charisma + Ride roll would have endeared him to them.)
He botches.
The stampede of mospids catches everyone's attention, and they manage to dispatch of them fairly quickly. Azure discovers that his tomb is pretty much empty. Sorry, Azure.
*** Azure has leveled up!
Lahna then asks Azure's bo'sun to carry some of her magical texts for her. Haha, the trap is sprung! The bo'sun is turned into a poodle. This doesn't sit well with Azure. "You're going to owe me for loss of productivity, for ridding him of fleas, you're going to have to turn him back..."
"No way! He obviously WANTED to be a poodle."
As they are arguing, Gregory picks up most of the books that the bo'sun dropped on discovering his canine nature. And buys a bag off Azure. Lahna doesn't take that very well, but as she and Gregory are arguing about the books, everyone *else* notices the giant blood ape standing behind them.
He threatens them for a while, then leans over to try and scare Gregory by grabbing his face. Gregory tries to blast him with the power of the sun!!, which misses. (Sadness.) Erethymus, pleased that he no longer has to care about Azure's silly anima powers, then proceeds to try and rip them limb from limb. Most of this time is spent with each side dodging the others' attacks, but a couple of well-placed hits by Gregory and Slade (actually, Slade's was one bashing, but pushed the demon over into dead) kills him.
Oh No! That Was A Load-Bearing Boss!
The team flees as the tomb starts to collapse inwards, glowing brightly from the fight. Most of them had their anima banners go up at least once, if not more. This is of the Not Good, since they are just across the river from Sijan. However, in the hole (?) left by the tomb collapsing, they discover the secret sub-basement with the airship! Yaaaay!
I think I'll post more about Mage later. Looks like the Internet is back up, woo!

Out of curiosity:
I ask because, judging from the fact that there aren't many employees and most of them are family, the business you work for is a small one. I worked for a small business once, and it got to the point where every time I was caught doing anything on the Internet, I'd get time deducted from my timesheet, and thus paid less. The whole experience there soon became a new threshold of annoying for me.
Now that I think about it, there are so many things I should have done differently there, especially things that involve me getting paid. Especially overtime. *grumbles*
Anyhow. If no one cares about your slacking, I is jealous. I think that's the point I wanted to make here.
