Az wasn't really disowned by her family, but she's basically had to walk away from them and have no contact with them. As far as they last knew, she had some mob/drug lord/something?? involvement, and if they had anything other than vague suspicions of what was going on, they might very well disown her. (The truth is that she was attacked by a hunter.)

If Az *didn't* back away from her downward spiral, Pat's said that D'or would basically give up on her.
