You know how sometimes people on your friends list post about stuff going on in their life, and all of a sudden you think "Wait a minute. Since when were they working THERE? Since when were they dating HIM/HER? Since when???" And then you wonder how you could have missed all that seemingly pretty standard information, but somehow you feel too ashamed to ask for clarification because it seems like info you should already know? It happens to all of us sometimes.

Please copy the topics below, erase my answers and put yours in their place, and then post it in your journal! Please elaborate on the questions that would benefit from elaboration. One-Word-Answers seldom help anyone out.

1. First name: Alessandra. Or Alex or Ali but the full name is Alessandra, note the double-S-no-X spelling. ;)

2. Age: 25. I rang it in with a pretty spectacular murder mystery/cocktail party, if I do say so myself.

3. Location: Brampton, Ontario. It's part of the Greater Toronto Area, for those of you who may not know such things. ;)

4. Occupation: Receptionist drone for a private mortgage company. If you have any questions about mortgages, I'm probably a good person to ask.

5. Partner: Three, primarily Patrick.

6. Kids: Nope. Don't have 'em, don't want 'em.

7. Siblings: Three half-siblings. Katie (20) on my mother's side, and Lauren (19 today) and Eddie (17) on my dad's side. Usually if I'm talking about my sister, I mean Katie, because I see her waaaaaaaaaay more often than the other two.

8. Pets: Three cats. In order of age: Zoe (Bitchy McBitcherson, unless you're going to turn on her shower [the kitchen sink]), Zack (Captain Submissive) and his topping-from-the-bottom gay lover, Zander.

Yes, they all start with Z. We're twee like that.

9. 3 biggest things going on in my life:

A) I hate my job with a fiery passion. It has a lot of nice things going for it - good pay, they're pretty flexible about when I show up - but there is a lot to be desired. Like not evicting pregnant women or 75-year-old men who had one NSF fee cascade into losing their house. However, I think I am more or less resolved in my plan to go back to school yes, that is for the third time, shut up shut up shut up.

B) I just finished writing an erotic story. Partly because I promised Jen (even if I was late despite having like half a year to finish it) and partly because yay, porn.

C) Christmas shopping. I am buying Patrick a robot. I'll probably put up my wishlist shortly, but I'm not expecting anything from those of you who read this.

10. Parents: Yvonne & Claudio, who respectively remarried Russ and Terry. My parents were total jocks and totally driven and kind of fearless as far as I can tell, which makes me suspect I am adopted. ;)

11. Some of my closest friends are: not around enough *punches [ profile] mysticjuicer and [ profile] mistress_gwen*. *ahem* I mean... you know who you are.

Other options to finish that sentence: NERDS, lovable, studying for exams, working too hard, and awesome.

*reading 3 Henry VI abruptly derails into a snowbank. A very, very pretty-smelling snowbank.*

And the vampire-themed ones XD Nosferatu, Dracul... <3

Full list:
Blood Kiss (musky, not very bloody, but very nice!), Nosferatu, Dracul, Cairo (omg cannot wait to try), Arkham (!!), Tavern of Hell (best. name. ever.), Yvaine (:D!!!!), Incubus, Danse Macabre, Blood Amber, Phantom Queen, Desire, and PICKLED IMP. XD XD XD

Thirteen in all!

<3 <3 <3 <3 <3 <3

*trying now. And trying to read 3 Henry VI while trying. This can only end in delicious, blood-scented tears.*

Update: *now reading Henry VIII as I go.*

BPAL updates as I go )

I think it's official: put 'blood' or spices somewhere in it and I'm practically guaranteed to love it. XD

And another BPAL update! *applause* *applause*

Horreur Sympathetique
Blood musk, golden honey, thick black wine, champagne grapes, tobacco flower, plum blossom, tonka bean, oakmoss, carnation, benzoin, opoponax, and sugar cane.

Grapes + sugar cane = Hubba Bubba grape. Or at least that's what Katie-sister thinks. I'm inclined to agree that it smells like cheap candy. All those other things? Who knows. Cheap candy. 4/10 - entertaining, but when would I ever wear it?

Crisp northern wind blowing over loganberry, wild roses, prairie crocus, iris versicolor Linné, mountain avens, yellow birch bark, mayflower and maple leaf.

Turns out... well... soapy. Again. I think it might be the rose; I can't have rose+ or else it just smells like cheap grandma soaps. 3.5/10.

Night-blooming jasmine, warmed by myrrh, lifted by the promise of rose.

This smells odd. Katie says it smells chemical, I think it smells kind of ozoney. 3/10.

Bulgar rose, Chinese white musk, lavender, orchid and frankincense.

My notes just say "sharp and gross". I think it's the musk. 2/10.

Dark, damp blossoms winding through an impenetrable, murky gloom.

I can't smell this at all on Katie. On me, it smells GRODY. Just... gross. Ick. 1/10.

Amber, saffron and bergamot with mandarin, nutmeg, Bulgar rose, musk and sandalwood.

Weird, musky, not-very-nice smell. I suspect that this could mellow if I gave it a chance, but 3/10 for now.

Arabian spices wind through a blend of warm musk, carnation, red sandalwood and cassia.

This one? Made it aaaaaaall worth it. This and Lyonesse. Spicy and sweet, but different enough from Hetairae to be wonderful. 9/10.

THANK YOU AGAIN, AMBER :D :D :D :D *glomps!* If I find a nice BPAL that is sandalwood-based, I will pass it on. ;)

BPAL update

BPAL update!

I have these sorted by my score for them on my list, so it goes from good to awful.

Golden vanilla and gilded musk, stargazer lily, white sandalwood, grey amber, elemi, orris root, ambergris and sea moss.

Definitely the best of the ones I've tried so far, this one is a nice vanilla with some florals. Puts me in mind of a warm golden color, if that makes sense. 7.5/10. I think this may replace Moon Rose as my girly scent.

White Rabbit
Strong black tea and milk with white pepper, ginger, honey and vanilla, spilled over the crisp scent of clean linen.

This one, for no reason Katie-sister and I can understand, turns into lavender. Pretty much immediately. Despite the fact that lavender shows up nowhere in that list. Yep. 4/10.

Elegant iris, bright berries, gilded amber and velvety spices.

This one turns into a slightly chemical floral. 3/10.

Black amber erupting with a dark volcanic surge of fiery dragon's blood and a burst of melati, rose geranium, mandarin and black currant.

I can't even describe what this smells like other than BAD. Just... not nice at all. 2/10.

Rosewood and chamomile with bergamot, violet, red sandalwood, primrose and Arabian musk.

On my sister, this smells like a nice rose. On me, it smells like talcum powder or crappy bathroom soaps. 2/10.

Copal, plumeria and sweet orange and the smoke of South American incense and crushed jungle blooms.

(As a side note: how in godfuck is that pronounced?)

This one is chemical orange. Not pleasant. Eventually faded into something okay on my sister. 2/10.

White cedarwood, blue sage and bay leaf.

(Seriously, you could just stick your nose in a bottle of bay leaves and inhale deeply. To the point of Calvin-with-the-mustard-jar inhalation. And it would probably not be so extreme.)

Still to try: Morocco, Baghdad, Niflheim, Vinland, Psyche, Nyx, Horreur Sympathetique.

They all arrived in one piece. :D

(For those of you tuning in, Amber sent me a TON of BPAL imps. 13!)

And there are so many I wanted in here too! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

This totally makes up for my feeling sick and shitty all day.

*<3 Amber*

Edit: Dude, some of these are even discontinued. That's awesome. :D :D :D :D Well, unless I wind up totally loving them and then never can get them again. Which, you know... may wind up happening.

I have photos of roleplaying and Pat and Jeremy yet to come.

Saw [ profile] safti yesterday, and it was AWESOME. Rockin'tastic, in fact. Her entire family is cool.

We finished each other's sentences and spoke in unison a whole bunch of times... giggled with glee (well, I giggled with glee) over "Blood Ties"... a whole bunch of things almost made her choke on her drink... played Gloom... told each other crazy roleplaying stories. (Walmart's > Piracy!)

There were many awesome things. :D Now, I have to go out THERE some time. Mwahahahahahahah *cough*

Random meme ganked from [ profile] harukami

Random meme time! Name a character from a fandom I'm in/have been in/original thing you know I've done, I'll say how I feel about 'em.

Non-meme stuff:

Sister and I made tempura today. It turned out pretty well, although towards the end the oil was like "KILL JOO!" and I said "ow!". No burns, but I keep feeling bits of tempura batter coming off my skin. Made rice to go with it, which turned out a bit salty but otherwise OK. Was WAY more effort than it was worth, but it was tasty.

Also made scones, which have not been griddled yet, but which I will cook tomorrow morning for breakfast. Wish me luck with that. I want scones ;_; Tasty tasty.

Going to karaoke with Sean et al. tonight. A bunch of people I haven't seen in about a bajillion years (where bajillion is about three or so, for most of them). Looking forward to it. Hoping I don't smell like a deep fryer from the oil. Also hoping that the deep bone-tiredness (from making the tempura) goes away in time to enjoy it fully. Therefore, Coca-Cola. Woot.

Dear Joyee and Steven,

You guys. Are too much. I'm all sniffly now. Also, OMG!

Joyee: I was terrified before I even finished my last course, are you kidding? ;P
Steven: I wouldn't have missed the distractions for the world. Yay shinies!

I love you guys. ♥

Well, I'm doing well today! Added 267 words in the first hour of writing. If I keep this up, maybe I can even finish by this weekend like I wanted to...

Tomorrow: eating out with Simon, Jen and Patrick. Woot. Thursday, Exalted! Also woot.

Also, Min? July 1 is totally next Friday, hon.
